As part of efforts to improve the administrative skills of staff and to maximize their productivity, the authorities of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye recently sponsored sixty staff from the junior cadre and some executive members of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) ably led by its Chairman, Comrade John Rasaki Olayinka to a 3-Day Workshop held at Camp Young, Ede, State of Osun.
The Workshop which had the University Vice-Chancellor,
Professor Ganiyu Olatunji Olatunde and the Bursar, Mr.
Semiu Makinde in attendance at the Opening Session was
themed “Enhancing Staff Alignment to University Best
Practices in Service Delivery”.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, the broad aim of the
Workshop was to enhance capacity building of all members
of staff in service delivery and, more importantly, build
a good working relationship among stakeholders in the
university.
At the Workshop, six papers were delivered by seasoned
administrators and academic scholars.
Dr. Tayo Subair delivered a paper on “Creating Impressive
University Image Model for Collective Responsibility”
while Mr. I. O. Odusanya presented a paper entitled
“Record Keeping, Information Management and Financial
Accountability: Service Delivery imperatives”. Mr. Dapo
Oke’s paper was on “Employee Participant: A Driving Force
in University Productivity”.
Similarly, Professor Razak Adebayo spoke on “Health and
Wellness: Worker’s Basic Necessities” while Dr.
(Mrs.) Simeon Fayomi emphasized on the need for
“Communication in the Workplace”. The last of the six
presentations was done by Dr. (Mrs.) J. Babalola who
delivered a paper entitled “Addressing Gender Issues in
the University: Imperatives for Peace and Development.
Participants at the Workshop were full of praises for the University authorities for giving them the opportunities to attend the Workshop. Sharing their experiences, some of them revealed that the programme was highly educative and the knowledge acquired was of immense value. They promised that the impact of the Workshop would certainly be felt by the University while discharging their duties. They equally promised to work harder in order to justify their attendance at the Workshop.
