Some old students of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye have donated 10 sets of HP computer, 120 office chairs and a set of Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2010 update to the Faculty of Law of the University.
The donors, under the aegis of OSU/OOU Law Alumni (1987 Set), also unveiled an ultra-modern signage donated to the Faculty by an alumnus.
The Law Alumni executive led by its President, Mr.
Olusegun Sipeolu, who was accompanied by the Vice
President, Mrs. Olamide Ogunkoya, the General Secretary,
Mr. Ajibola Kaka, and representative of the first set of
the Faculty, Chief Femi Okenla, formally handed over the
items to the Vice-Chancellor at a recent ceremony in the
Faculty of Law.
Speaking at the event, Sipeolu said the donation was made
to enhance teaching and learning for both staff and
students in the faculty of Law.

He restated the commitment of the old students to continue
to give back to their alma mater towards improving its
quality and output.
Sipeolu, who performed the unveiling of the Faculty
signage, disclosed that it was donated by an alumnus and
former Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology
in Ogun State, Mr Segun Odubela (SAN).
Also speaking, Chief Okenla, who represented the first set of the Faculty of Law, pledged to donate a building for the Faculty.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, who was excited by
the donation, expressed the appreciation of the University
Management to the Law Alumni.
According to him, the Law Alumni ranks higher among all
the alumni associations in terms of commitment and service
to the institution.
Prof. Olatunde assured that the University would continue
to appreciate and give the alumni necessary support
towards achieving its goals and aspirations.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, (Administration)
Prof. Charles Adekoya, has lauded members of the Law
Alumni for their consistent and continued support to the
Faculty and the University.
Adekoya, who was the immediate past Dean, Faculty of Law,
recalled some of the invaluable and unprecedented
contributions of the old students.
He said the contributions, including financial
commitments, have gone a long way to assist the Faculty to
adequately prepare for accreditation.
His words: “We appreciate the donors for making
available 120 chairs for the Law Library, 10 sets of
computer with monitor and a set of Laws of the Federation
of Nigeria. The chairs with armrest cost N1.5million.
We appreciate you because you are actually setting the pace as the pace-setter set of the Faculty by donating generously to your alma mater because that would go a long way to fulfill the needs of the students in terms of sitting comfortably in the Law Library and to be able to read for long hours.”
Adekoya noted that the alumni had been awesome and supportive while he served as the Dean of the Faculty.
“By the grace of God, we are hoping that we would be raising money from philanthropists and from organisations as corporate social responsibility so that we can upgrade our offices and ensure that staff have decent offices throughout the University,” he added.
